The Spindlers didn't want to miss out on the Texas blue bonnets, so we took them back to McKinney Falls.

Louis was his usual skeptical self for a day, but didn't take him too long to warm up to Grandma Mary again and he often took her by the hand and led her around...

Rosemary's Aunt Katy and Uncle Moof went dress-up clothes shopping at the thrift stores in Chicago and got some real treasures. Rosemary didn't take this dress off for two days...

In what is becoming an annual tradition, we had Marilyn blue crabs flown in for James's birthday dinner. The Barkers joined us and all the kids really loved the crabs!

We did of course let a few of them fight...

Lemon and herb orzo, sprouted bean and tomato salad made great sides. I didn't get a picture but Aunt Mo made a key lime pie that was the best pie any of us had ever tasted (seriously)!

James's birthday pots, made proudly by Rosemary (with a fair amount of help from Kyle). I think they are beautifully painted. She wrapped them and everything. Of course, there was also some serious trauma when she accidentally dropped the pot she made for Grandpa Dan and it shattered, but so it goes.

Just before the Spindlers arrived, we had a nice few days with Aunt Gale and Uncle Roger, who drove down after Mamo's 95th birthday in Dallas. It was really fun to show them our house and garden, and have them meet Louis. Uncle Roger was impressed by Louis's hats and James's treehouse.
