A break in the rain and new tricks

We were really sad to hear that Al Marshall passed away yesterday. He gave Rosemary her first teddy bear, and we will always remember him as funny, and warm.





Rosemary's newest trick is to bat at things -- she's very close to having enough hand/eye coordination to grab things:

We took a trip to the beautiful Descanso Gardens today, the first day in several where it wasn't raining. It was fun to "offroad" with our stroller. Rosemary wore a very fancy outfit from Ronen & Meaghan, complete with baby knee highs and satin slippers from Aunt Summer.

The last week has been really liberating for Rosemary's parents -- we took her hiking today with friends and out to lunch. We've figured out that she has a three hour cycle -- eat, play and interact for an hour and half, fuss for half an hour, and (this is the new, miraculous part), then NAP (see picture). She NEVER **willingly** napped until about three days ago. Last night she also slept from 8:30 to 4:00 AM. She has also, you'll be glad to hear, reached all the "developmental milestones" in the baby book, including lifting up her head (see video).

Two month birthday & getting back home

We've been home from Dallas for a week and a half and its been good. Mina was dreading leaving Dallas, since it was so great to be around her whole family & have extra help with Rosemary, but she found that she is a lot more confident in taking care of her upon her return! It helps that this week Rosemary has started to go to sleep between 7 and 9 and sleep for at least six hours for the first stretch (sometimes longer!), so we're a lot more rested. She also started going face out in the front baby carrier, which she really likes (she hates the stroller -- probably because she can't see anything in the infant carrier which faces in). We spent several hours in Huntington Gardens on the lawn and facing out, and even went out to dinner with her (I nursed her in the car while James went in to order, so we made it quick). As you can see, Rosemary is talking up a storm. She also weighs 11 pounds, 7.5 ounces now!
