Early Summer in Chi-town

Our early summer in Chicago was filled with many fun activities -- particularly when James finished his teaching duties. You can see typical Louis above, who remains one of the most chilled-out babies on the planet (unless you: a) feed him too slowly or b) try to make him nap). We did have one week of illness which was sad -- Louis had a virus which gave him trouble breathing and we ended up one night in the children's hospital (which, fortunately, was a very nice hospital).

Below is the wonderful fountain/splashing pool outside the University of Chicago law school -- a good place to walk around once it started to get hot.
We visited daddy's school with Grandpa Dan and Grandma Mary and Rosemary had fun twirling around on daddy's office chair and drawing on the white boards (check out his giant marble table in his office).











We had a fun barbecue over at the Dombeks, and checked out their newly-assembled swingset, which they had rigged for summer by putting the kiddie pool at the bottom of the slide. Louis took his first dip.












We went to our last nursery school class (below the kids are having their snack) at KAM Isiah Israel temple.













And we had a GREAT visit with Katie and Henry. Rosemary and Henry slept in the same room, and the first night they stayed up talking until about 11. We have no idea about what, but we did go in there and they had been up to quite a lot of redecorating -- each had several shells in bed with them. Below we had a special treat -- we got to pet snakes at the nature museum (Katie really took to it). Rosemary really is over her fear of carousels.















Mom took the kids to the wonderful (crowded) children's museum.













And we had a great day going to the Park Ridge Memorial Day parade accompanied by a feast of brats and mussels. Grandpa handed out flags at the parade, which Rosemary thought was cool.















And Louis perfected his crawling techniques.
