Rosemary and Louis's Adventures: March

Well, the last SIX MONTHS have come and gone and I have had too much to do to document it all, but I do want to do some sort of overview before diving into the monumental task of sorting through thousands of Chile photos!

The big event for spring break/March was a trip to California to meet BABY WILLIAM, Dev and Summer's third child! We had a truly wonderful visit -- enjoying a cute new addition to the family, bittersweet nostalgia visiting our old haunts, eating awesome Asian food, great times with Aunt Mo who has really been missed around our house, nice visits with our old friends (we went to Orange County to see Graham and his sweet family, we saw Way-Ting and David and their boys in Playa del Rey, Summer and I got Thai massages with Maria and she and Alex joined us in Legoland, we all went to Marie's house and enjoyed a lovely lunch and visit), the total pleasure of watching the cousins play together, and even TWO babysitter nights (not bad with a three month old baby... as usual, GO SUMMER) where we enjoyed an amazing French meal and a Tiki bar.

One afternoon we took Beatrice to Huntington Gardens:

One very VERY exciting aspect of this trip was a visit from Aunt Maureen, who came all the way from Chile to meet William and us! The kids were besides themselves with excitement to see her and made her a nice welcome banner:

One afternoon while Summer was working Maureen and I took the girls to get a manicure and pedicure... they decided to paint each nail a different color and were pretty excited about their rainbow nails!

When we took Rosemary home from the hospital we took her to this apartment, at 433 Norton:

After that nostalgia detour we went to one of our favorite Korean restaurants just down the street, BCD Tofu House:

And the very lovely LA zoo, with its awesome new elephant habitat:

As a special treat for the kids, Dev skipped out on work one day and we took them all to Legoland. The adults weren't too impressed, but it was perfect for the age of our young kids -- they really REALLY loved it & Louis even rode his first roller coaster (several times).

Since the cousins were in school on Friday, we took another nostalgia trip to Altadena/Pasadena and the Santa Anita racetrack for breakfast and to watch the gorgeous horses do their morning workout, which we had discovered just before we moved in 2010:

We also went to the Arboretum across the street -- which was one of our regular haunts with the babies (yes that's a peacock above Maureen's head):

And this was the beautiful house we lived in for just a year and a half but the very place we took Louis to when we took him home from the hospital. Really wonderful memories here -- parrots in our backyard, kids playing under the enormous oak tree in back (and you could watch them from the kitchen if you kept the top of the charming Dutch door open), waking up to morning coffee with a view of the San Gabriel mountains, decorating our first real Christmas tree with Rosemary:

Other goings on in the spring included Rosemary's first basketball season. I was really proud of her -- she was maybe the only one on the team who hadn't played before and although she was nervous about it, she persevered and really drastically improved. It was hard to get a chance to practice since the boys -- to my surprise, even at this age -- have a hard time passing the ball. But instead of retiring and withdrawing, she got MAD and worked harder! Go Rosemary!
