Visiting Cousin Ashley and her parents, Nana and Nani, and more Beatrice

So much has happened in the last three weeks that its hard to know where to start. First off, we had a really great visit with Ashley and her parents, Sandy and Tyler. Rosemary's mom hadn't seen Ashley since about a year ago(see this blog, May 2008 for a comparison of the two girls together a year ago) , and it was so nice to see her (and her mom and dad, of course) again, particularly since Rosemary and Ashley were old enough to really interact. They had a great time together and Rosemary really missed her when she had to leave. Ashley DID teach Rosemary how to say "MINE" though... guess it was bound to happen :-)

Rosemary's "Nana" and "Nani" were visiting at the same time, and Beatrice was born (and unfortunately was in the hospital -- she is completely fine and thriving now, but we were nervous for a few days), so a lot was happening all at once. She quickly learned how to call for Nana and Nani, and learned their number... when she woke up from a nap and saw my dad, she ordered "book!" See pictures of her below, marching him across the bridge at the Japanese garden. She also forced each grandparent to her hands, simultaneously, as they sat next to her in the back seat.

She is learning words quickly now... each day, we're finding out new words that she knows that we didn't realize... like "fun," (her Nani actually made up a sign for this, but now she just says the word) "water," "mouse," and "apple." Also some new words, like "mimi" (pacifier -- I kind of hate this one as she's become pretty demanding for it and I'm not sure what to do about that), and "nanoo" (mango or tomato). She ... VERY occasionally gives you extremely passionate kisses which involve grabbing each cheek and planting one right on the mouth, but her more common response to pretty much anything is "No"
